    Thanks for repling but I've already been there and it too is confusing as to mine not having "red" where all they speak for this model does.

    If you call Ruger and give them your serial number, they'll tell you exactly what you have.

    I have an old model vaquero...any grips that fit the New Model Blackhawks will fit your Vaquero(old model vaqueros were just called Vaquero but they are built on NewModel Blackhawk frames. If you just want some nice wood or faux ivory grips at reasonable prices you can't beat Hogues. A company called Lett was a custom grip maker for Ruger for years but they are now out of business. If you come across any of their grips on the auction side or at a gun show snag em up as they were very nice but very pricey.

    Ruger41 is correct, if it has the original Vaquero grip frame that came on it, the XR3-RED grip panels would be correct for your gun.

    What your saying is the XR-3 RED will fit even though the frame is stamped XRN-3, this is whats so confusing, everybody and eveything I read says something different. Thanks everyones for your replys [;)]

    Hope so anyway, frame marking is still confusing, even asked Ruger and they too danced around the question ???? [:D]
