I am partial to #4 buck myself. YMV.

As for slugs you are stuck with fosters which maybe slightly erradic in a smooth bore with a bead sight. Still might shoot minute of yote but you just never know without experimentation.

Thanks folks, we have a coyote invasion here. High power rifles are not suited for our community.

Sounds like an excuse to buy a 22 wmr, 5.7x28, or 22 hornet...

#5 3 inch mag worked well at 8 feet in the dark at a full run toward me sitting in Full Camo setting backed up to a tree trunk [:0][:0][:0][:0]

    .22LR with suppressor.

Just keep the shots close (<75 yds) and use good placement.

+1 #4 Buck. I would try the cast lyman sabot slug. I put a mid bead on 870 20" tube just for the slugs and my choke of choice is skeet #2. Maybe a little less than 50/100 if you want them dead right there. Test your skill and load first.

Full choke is no good for a slug.... You want a rifled tube or improved cylInder

Get some Heavy Shot , Dead Coyote loads . The 3 1/2s are lethal out to about 70 Yds. . Shooting slugs out of a Full choked barrel just don't work , no accuracy and they kick like hell , might even be hard on your 11-87s action !

I'm a #1 buck man myself, falls right between 00 and 4, IMO best of both worlds (Decent individual pellet penetration and shot count).

#2 Lead 3" loads will mess up their day out of that full choke. 00 seems to work but many of time they will not get hit will one of the few pellets at a distance.
