    I would suggest a book--"Volume 4, Pattern 1914 and U.S. Model 1917" by Charles R. Stratton. It contains a wealth of information for very little money ($16.95) and will be of great help in your project. By the way; While "Pattern 1914" is correct for the British rifle, "Pattern 1917" is not proper terminology for the Model 1917.

    The above book indicates the key and the collar are not marked.

    Thanks for the information. Do you know any good sources for Model 1917 parts. Numrich is out because they won't sort the parts according to maker. At least that is what they told me
