gumbydamnit,
Badly written and confusing.
This is a Remington made M1903 which has been re-barreled to the .308 Norma Magnum.
I wouldn't get too excited personally...

i had one years ago and it was a good long range rifle, i made cases out of 338 mag cases.it would kick a 190gr match bullet at 3100 fps with a 28 inch barrel. eastbank. 0 -
Basicaly the 308 Norma Mag is very close to the 300 Win Mag. It was popular in Alaska in the late 50s and early 60s with sheep hunters. Remember, the 300 Win didn't appear until 1963, the 7mm Ramington Mag came out in 62.
I can't let my skirt get blown up over a rechambered 03A3, it is what it is.

Since the seller has a 42-43 date on it, it may well be simply rechambered. Since there is no collector value, the price should reflect the value as a hunting rifle. I had a 308 Norma that was a very good shooter and cases are fairly easily formed from 7mm or 338 mag brass. 0 -
Thanks guys, I was just puzzled and the way it was wrote up was confusing, but I did think he was referring to the 308 Norma mag. He is wanting $500.00 for the gun or like the ad says he will trade, but I will probably pass on it. I thought maybe it was something worthwhile looking into and possibly "RARE", but sounds like the run of the mill gunsmith special. Thanks again for the info...........TOM 0 -
Looks like a nice $300.00-$350.00 sporterized 03-A3 , nothing more , nothing less . 0 -

That pricing seems about right to me also.0 -
Back in the late 50's and early 60's there were many .30 Cal. conversions to 308 Norma Mag. This was BEFORE the 300 Win Mag came out.
Actually, it's a GREAT round...and basically it's a 338 Necked-down to .30 Cal.0 -

There is, of course, a .30/.338 cartridge and it's a little shorter, head to shoulder, than the .308 Norma. I know because I had a rifle in .308 Norma and dies but when I got a .30/.338, the Norma dies wouldn't size the .338 neck down quite far enough. So I had to get another set of dies. But "basically", you are correct; there's not much difference.
As an aside, I'm currently working with an Icon in .300 Winchester Mag. and I'm finding I don't like to get kicked that hard anymore!0 -
It's been said that if norma wouldn't have come out with that round winchester may have very well simply necked the 338 to 308. Being a 30 calibre nut myself, I would say pick it up and giver. 0
