Remington 700LH 308, 6mm
I just bought a left handed 700 BDL in 308, after looking for several years. The barrel date is AK which i believe is March 1990. Does anyone know how long they made the short auction 700LH BDL in 308 for or how many they made? The other gun that I picked up was a 700LH in 6mm with a 24 inch heavy barrel. This is on a long auction and currently is in a H-S Precision stock. I believe that this is a varmint synthetic but i do not know, does anyone have any information about what model this might be? Also is the value of these rifles the same as their right handed counter parts?

I have left hand Rem 700 BDL's in .308 and 30-06, also a left hand VS in .223. I would have to dig out my old Remington catalogs to get exact info but Iam pretty sure they have made the left hand BDLs for around 30 years or more. My Varmint Synthetic has the black heavy synthetic stock and heavy barrel.
The value of the left hand models is about the same as the right, but there is less of a demand for them. The Varmint Synthetic is the one on top in this picture.

Howdy Ethan & welcome to the forum,
For what it's worth-- Well over 30-yrs ago when I bought new a BDL-LH in 7rem-mag, the catalogs were stating 10% premium over right hand models. And that's what I paid. From manufacturing point of view, I feel this is very reasonable.
As L Lefty says true of less of a demand goes hand-in-hand with less of supply, also. So I'd say they are worth somewhat more than for a righty. May look on auction side for completed auctions to get an idear.
Sorry, don't know about the birthday of the short actions.

Thanks guys, I would still love to know how many 308 BDL's or at least a year range. I have gun digests going from the mid 80's to the early 60's and am going to check in them. 0
