remington mohawk 600
I just came across a Remington Mohawk 600. the rifle has a 4x scope and is in, in the box new condition the previous owner said he fired maybe 60 rounds through it. The rifle is chambered in .308 cal any info on how popular or rare and possible value would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't call it rare, but it sure is a fine little carrying rifle.
Check the auction side to see what similar rifles have gone for.
If you want better information than that you'll really need to send us some good close up pictures; stock, crown, action, etc.
That said, I've seen decent ones sell for around $400.00 and if it's hound dog clean the right buyer might auction it up close to twice that. Not me, but you just never know.
Me? I'd hold on to it and not give much though to the value others might place on it.

yes sir I was just curious had never seen or heard of one till now. It really threw me off tho see a .308 that short in overall length andthe light weight it is a beautiful gun if i can figure out ho i will post some pictures. Thank you for your help 0 -
You should research the safty/trigger. There was recall on them. IIRC a * or an A on the trigger's upper side indicates it is the replacement. 223 is the hard to find cal. Nice short rifles. 0 -
Also if the ser# starts with a letter [ ex. A12345] it was made after the recall with the then new trigger. Some still had problems. 0 -

660 Magnum Carbine
The models which have always been collectible are the 6.5 Remington Magnum and the .350 Remington Magnum and these were 'collected' by shooters to use in the field. Imagine that!
Decades before Winchester's WSM and Remington's RSAUM, we had the original 'short magnum'. Even then, the ballisticians were castigated for creating a cartridge where the bullet had to protrude deeply into the case in order to make them function through a magazine. Then decades later they both committed the same error again.
Yet in the late 1800's, Paul Mauser supplied the world with the answer to most of these cartridge design problems by offering a general action length suited to such cartridges as the short, fat evolutions. But Winchester and Remington were too smart for Paul. They concentrated on the short action.
