A friend has a Forehand & Wadsworth british bulldog pistol 32CF and is intrested in knowing when it was made and a rough value SN 658** nickel with black grips 75-80%ThanksBob 0 -
Sounds like Forehand & Wadsworth's British Bulldog (serial no. on end of butt?): If so, chambered for the old .38 S&W round.
Made ca.1880-1890.0 -
Yes the S# is on the butt & on the end of the cylinder. The 44 that I have the S# is 4316 it also is on the butt & on the front of the cylinder. 0 -
Yes, there was a .38 Webley, shown on page 148 in Suydam's US Cartidges & Their Handguns. Diameter .379, case length about .770, and will interchange with the .38 Short Colt. 16 grains black powder, 124 gr bullet. Heel seated .380 bullet. 0 -

Yes, the F&W BBDs also have the serial on rear of cylinder. Some have the F&W name on barrel, some have a dog's head trade mark on left forward frame, and some have only the BBD marking and sn's.
A .38 Special case should be slightly undersize, as the .38 S&W case is .007 larger diameter.0
