40-70 ctg identification

I have two different ctgs marked 40-70. One is marked WRA 40-70 and is a bottle necked case and the other is marked 40-70 WCF and is a straight tapered case. The 40-70 Win ctg in Ctgs Of The World is shown as a bottle necked case. I think the bottle necked case is actually a 40-70 Remington, I can't determine what the tapered case is. Pictures are available.

  In my COTW a few pages later they give dim. for those old cart. With stuff that old it could have been shot in anything and reloaded.

  My COTW shows both a 40-70 straight and a 40-70 bottle neck.

  Well, the bottle necked case is definitely not a 40-70 Sharps Straight or a 40-70 Ballard. It could be a 40-70 Sharps Bottle-neck though.

  If anyone is needing 40-70 WCF ammo for model 1885 Single shot or Model 1886 contact Sheldon Bennet at Buffalo arms. They are considering making this available with smokeless powder and RNFP. Thank you Bill
