The Serial number would date it in the area of January 1934 which the barrel would need to be marked unless it's been re-barreled. This rifle should have a bolt stamp of N.S. on the top of the bolt handle. As far as value goes unfortunately it's in the area of time were they weren't making them for use, so I'd imagine a lot of these are around. Taking those factors into consideration $750 to maybe a $1000 but that's just a guess.

Nobody can give you an estimated value without good pics or a more detailed description. You didn't say if it's in original military configuration, type (blued or parkerized) and percentage of original finish, all stock, frame and barrel markings, and overall condition.

This thread shows you how to post pics: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294

Thanks guys. It does have the NS mark on the bolt. Stock is a little scratched up from time but I think in very good shape. The blueing is wearing though. I have been using it for years hunting and is one heavy gun. I stopped using it.

    Bill1956,
By you mentioning bluing I suspect it is a sporterized military rifle. Is the stock similar to Remington and Winchester sporting rifles or is the military type with wood above and below the barrel and extending to within a few inches of the muzzle? A military rifle from that era would have a flat black parkerizing that could be mistakenly called blue but it is very dull.

A sporterized rifle, depending upon the extent of a quality of the work, will probably bring less than half of what an original/correct rifle will bring.

If you have an account on the auction side, a search for '1903 Sporter' under completed auctions will show you bids from $ 250.00 up to $ 450.00. The $ 450.00 bid was for a rifle with a beautiful stock and included a Bousch and Lomb sight.
