Franchi variomax 912 shotgun

    I have the Franchi 720 which is a similar shotgun. However my manual also covers the 912.
    The gas piston has an arrow on it. For light loads the arrow points to the muzzle. For heavy loads the arrow points to the stock. It should also be marked light and heavy.
    Manual emphasizes keeping piston and mag tube clean and lightly oiled for light loads.
    Note that the 912 also uses an O ring (called a compression seal) on the magazine assembly. In addition, the lightest load recommended for the 912 is 3 dram 1 1/8 oz shot.
