.22 Winchester

I have a co-worker who inherited a .22 bolt action Winchester that is approximately 60-70 years old. It is magazine fed, and a local gun dealer offered him $40 for it. I have no other info except that the rifle is in working condition. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    unless this is a wreck of a rifle ANY winchester magazine fed 22 is worth MORE than $40.00

    Let the seller beware.I'm sure the parts alone are worth far more than $40.00--Did the dealer even offer to buy him dinner before he tried to sc#ew him.

    That said. .22 rifles are one of the most common firearms encountered by folks in the gun business. Unless they are factory original and in at least Very Good condition, there value is minimal. Only time most dealers will even take one in, is if it's a trade-in on a more valuable gun. Or he feels it has resale potential, to a collector.

    seems like some one does not like no one,i wonder who that could be? as this post can only be edited by the poster or a moderator and it was not the poster it only leaves the other.maybe his neck tie is a little to tight. according to prag.

    It would really help to know which Model it is (marked on the left side of the barrel near the rear sight). The $40 offer from the dealer is all too typical, and is more than likely way too low.

    You are the only person who has edited your post. If a Moderator edited your post, the forum software will identify who it was that edited it.

    Frankly, I am having a hard time trying to understand what it is you are trying to say??

    There is a obscenity filter resident in the software, that prevents you from posting dirty words. If you try to post them, the software is programed to change them. Perhaps that is what caused your post to be changed?

    On a good day they only give 50% of the value usually closer to 25 or 33%. Don't clean it up, just yet.
