Interarms Model 92 SRC Disassembly Problem
I have an Interarms Model 92 SRC that developed problems in a SASS event last Sunday. The lever would not open the breechbolt more than about 1/2". I noticed that the right side cartridge stop screw was missing. I now am in the process of disassembling the rifle to find the problem but am unable to remove the lever and breechbolt, it still will not open the bolt. All the screws have been removed. Any ideas what needs to be done to complete the disassembly?

Don't force anything or you will end up with broken parts. I haven't had a 92 apart in a time long. This might help

Thanks for the reply, I have the "The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part IV - Centerfire Rifles" and according to it the lever and breech bolt should be easy to separate at this point. do you know if there's something additional to be found in the manual you mentioned? Or if there's a difference between the steps outlined in the book that differ for an Interarms clone? 0 -
Nearly 30 years ago I volunteered at a gun shop. I stripped down and reassembled many guns for re-bluing. I don't remember any specifics for a 92 and I never did an Interarms clone.
Turn the rifle upside down and try giggling the lever gently to get loose part in a different position. Tapping with a wood block or a lead hammer might help.
I have no clue about the download. $4 is like 5 minutes or less of shop rate.
My 94 SRC was on loan out when the right cartridge guide came loose from a broken screw hole. The cartridge lifter is about 1/2 shorter from the action being forced. I drill out the hole and silver soldered in a bushing, drilled and tapped to the correct factory screw. The last thing to do is weld in an extension on the lifter, although it functions reasonably well as is.0 -
Thanks Charlie! Went back to the work bench last night, jiggled the lever, wondered why the bolt wasn't moving, realized that I had put a locking lug back in to hold the bolt closed when I put it down the night before, removed the lug and the lever came right out. After a little wiggling the bolt came out and the right cartridge guide fell out also.
Looking at the receiver the same thing may have happened to mine as yours. The cartridge guide screw hole may be stripped. I may have to have the same repair done. As I'm not a welder and my soldering skills leave much to be desired I'll have to have someone do that for me if necessary.
It wasn't the cost of the manual, just wanted to see if anyone knew if it contained the same information I already have. I may order it just to find out. At the very least I can pass it on to someone else in the club if it is the same.0 -
Good work. I use the low temp silver solder and flux from Brownell's. I made the bushing from a 20 penny nail. 0
