Belgian A5 Light Twelve question
A friend has a Light 12 that was made in the early 60's. But there is NO suffix over the serial number on the bottom of the receiver. Never has been. "Light Twelve" is engraved on the top of the receiver, as it should be. I have read that if no suffix is present, it's not a Light 12, but the receiver is one piece machined, so how could it be NOT true? This gun was bought from the original owner, along with hang-tag and paperwork. It's in pristine condition. Did some get by without a prefix? Thanks for any info!

Should be a prefix like 1G or 2G ect. rather than a suffix- 0 -
That's just it. There's nothing but the serial #. 0 -
Earliest Light Twelve Auto-5 guns were numbered along with the standard guns, before they began using prefixes. However, that was the late 1940's.
Curious as to how you determined the gun was made in the early 1960's...0 -
I'm aware of a Light Twelve made in 1953 that only had numbers in the serial number. So they do exist. 0 -

Guess I'm missing something. If there is no serial number prefix such as 1G, 2G, etc., I'm not clear on how you came up with early 1960's. If there is no prefix, it was made before 1954. Light Twelves were made before 1954 and would have no prefix. Light Twelves made in the early 1960's would have the prefix. 0 -
I guess it was made earlier than I thought! I'm going to buy iy tomorrow. It has 2 barrels. The original barrel that came with the gun is plain, and a vent rib barrel was bought for it later. Still has the hang-tag and paperwork with it. Looks like new. I have not seen the paperwork yet, but will tomorrow. I don't guess 900.00 is too bad for the gun. 0
