What's it worth: TIkka T3 w/ Zeiss scope

I'm going to a gun show this weekend to get rid of my Tikka T3 Lite 25-06 with Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 MC scope. I'm really not sure what it is worth. I've seen all kinds of prices for each one where I'm having a hard time dialing in what I could realistically get for this combo. I'm asking $900 obo and do not want to go any lower than $800. Does this seem like a fair price or should I expect higher or lower? Also the gun has only been fired once in our possession maybe 5 rounds and it is in excellent condition.

    The price ranges you list seem to be in the right range, depending on which T3 is is, stainless or blue. I think your bottom line, would be the lowest that I would consider myself, if I were selling it.

    You might get a better price by selling it here on Gunbroker. you would certainly have more people looking at it.

    It's a blued finish. Glad to hear the price sounds good. If I don't sell it this weekend it will definitely go on Gunbroker. I would just rather have a quick sale locally if possible then I wouldn't have to worry about going through FFL and shipping and everything. Thanks!

    You do not have to go to an FFL to ship your gun. You may ship it to any FFL in the country, by UPS, FedEx, or USPS.

    You will also do better if you split the sale up. Sell the gun and base separate from the scope and rings. For some reason you take royal a hosing on a good scope when it is sold as a scope/gun combo.

    As a private seller you can MAIL a long gun to a FFL holder in another state. It costs about 30 bucks to mail and insure a long gun. I always tell bidders to make sure their receiving FFL will accept shipments from a private seller. you might have to send a copy of your drivers license as a ID but that is fine. Also ask the buyer if you can remove the stock. Is shortens the package, saves a lot of money on postage and reduces chances of shipping damage.

    Oh ok I always thought you had to ship from FFL to another FFL. That is good to know. I thought about splitting them up. I think I'm going to see how Saturday goes and if I don't have any luck I might head back Sunday with them apart. If all else fails then Sunday night or Monday it will be on Gunbroker!

    I find the least expensive of these rifles is online here at GB. Most of the blued versions run around $500-$550. While, the Stainless versions run from $600-$650. One outrageously priced standard blued for $800 can be tossed and the 'teaser' $500 rifles can be tossed. On average, one needs to add $50-$100 for the cost of shipping and FFL. $50 is much more the norm. So, say $600 total for blue and $700 for stainless.
    Next is the scope. The 3-9x40 is pretty basic as far as these scopes go. Not sure what the MC stands for, but I've seen a number of reticles with this designation of the scope. But, prices for standard scopes like these run in the $400-$500 range.

    While you have a fine combination of rifle and scope, that doesn't always translate into getting what the rifle is worth. You have a combo that may run from $1000-$1200. I've seen people take a lot worse of a hit on selling guns than that. I would push for as much as you can, but if your bottom line is $900 then walk away when someone won't give it to you. If you've only been offered $800, but really need to sell the rifle, then get what you can. It's not the loss that many like to take, but it'll be over and done and leave it at that.

    That said, I can still look back at some guns I had to sell for financial reasons and didn't get what I wanted for them. I hated it when selling one particular rifle that shot my best groups ever. The result though was that the kids got what they needed at a tough financial time in our lives. Tight groups, as much as I love 'em, don't even come close in comparison.

    That's my best assessment of your situation.
