Frnech Unique 7.62 (32 ACP)
I got a pre WWII French Unique 7.62 (32 ACP) from my dad who took it off a Jap Officer in the South Pacific in the mid 40's. I have the original capture papers as well.
I field stripped the gun and cleaned every nnok and cranny. I does shoot well too.
It has a set of grips with two rairing horses facing each other, a crown, and what appears to be a golfer from top to bottom. Some one sanded the grips smooth so the raised portions are difficult to see.
All the grips I see are the ribbed plastic ones with the Unique logo or plain.
Could these be an old set of Colt grips that some swapped with the originals.
If these are the original grips I'd love to get a good set. But I've looked at every web site possible for vintage grips and found nothing like these.
I have a set of vertical ribbed reproduction plastic and a wood set as well.

What a great story that pistol could tell. I think that Imperial Officer's had to buy their own pistils.

The only one that rings a bell, vis a vis the rearing horses. Is a Spanish made pistol, with the Trade Name of Royal. They were made by the Zulaica Co. in Eibar Spain. The size of the Spanish Royal pistols and the French Uniques were quite similar. Ii's possible that the Royal gips were mounted on the Unique?
The pistol in this photo off the net, illustrates the Royal grip with the rearing horses. It is a different model though with a large frame, because it takes a hi-Cap mag.
