what do I have?
I have a spingfield 1911A1. It is chambered in 9mm and I cannot find any information on it, or another one like it! I'm looking not just for its value but general info on it and how i might find another one. It appears to be a standard model (no bell or whistles). Also its an original 9mm frame, not a conversion. Anybody have any background info on this thing? P.S. I have pictures but cant figure out how to add them to this posting.

That said. From your description likely it's a Belgian made, Damascus barreled, external hammer shotgun. Many of these shotguns were imported into the U.S. between the 1880's and World War I. It was common for them to be sold with spurious British markings, for marketing purposes.
On the other hand, if it were to be English made rather then Belgian. It would be much less common and have potentially more collector value.0 -
The "stamps of some symbol" are probably proofmarks, possibly Belgian on the Richards and English on the Moore.

At one time there were Barkers (imitation Parkers) and W. Richards (instead of Westley Richards) and so on. Playing on well known brands. If any of the symbols looks like an oval, crown above, letters ELG inside, that is a proofmark from Liege Belgium. 0
