308/7.62 NATO tatical weapons? Which one?
Looking for 308/7.62 tactical weapon. I like what I read about the sig sauer. But i saw the DPMS. I already have a M1. Help me out on this. Thank you

FN-FAL or L1A1, depending on which ergonomics you like. I prefer the metric (FAL) pattern over the inch (L1A1) pattern.

If you are looking toward an AR platform, with DPMS, and Sig Sauer mentioned, leading me to believe you are, then all I have to say is tactical, and accurate...The GAP-10, by GA Precision. You have to see one to believe it.

I'm with Neal on this. I wouldn't sell my M1A NM for anything. Had a L1A1 for a while and it was a OK gun, but traded it for a AR.0 -

+1 The M14 platform is awesome! SAI, LRB, Fulton Armory all currently make very nice examples of the M!4. There are standard, scout, NM and the short 16" barreled versions. Wood stocks, fiberglass and a variety of other modern collapsible stock aluminum chassis.
No matter what version, they are shooters![:)] The have the best iron sights available, and can mount optics also - and if you run out of ammo they make a great club![:D]0 -
Another vote for the M1A platform! Stay away from the 16" unless you really like muzzle blast. The Scout style is an ideal size for the cartridge. 0 -

I have had M1a1'sand shot m14's, shot G3's and owned HK 91 and AR10. The AR was the most accurate, The Match M1A1 was the easiest to shoot well with iron sights, but if iI had to carry one around clean it and count on it all the time the FN series is the best. there is a reason that most of the free world used it. graham 0 -
I have an HK91, M1, and just acquired an LWRC REPR which so far has impressed me. It is a variant of the AR-10 in a piston format. The only problem is finding one.
I would like to get an HKMR762. I have the MR556A1 and this has a very good shooter so I'm sure the 762 would live up to my expectations.
All these are pistons. The down side is they are heavier than a DI, and in my perception, I feel a little more recoil, but other than that, they've been great shooters.0 -

What reason or use do you have in mind? That will determine a good answer from all of the opinions.
Nostalgia, I'd definitely go for the M1A, nothing else.
Plinking and general purpose enjoyment, DPMS or any of the plethora of less expensive .308 AR platforms available.
Actual target shooting and competition, I'd have to go with the GAP10.
Ego and expense, German or imports that are hard to get.
Actual SHTF scenarios (unlikely), I'd buy the best combat proven .308 semi-auto available.
But, if you really want accuracy and don't have a huge need for a semi-auto, other than everyone else has to have one... I'd opt for the best custom .308 bolt rifle I could find. Hands down this would be my choice for anything in the above categories. It could be adapted easily for any field requirements for close in to 1,000 yard targets. Generally there is no need for the semi-auto for most folks. They just want what everyone else is buying.
