How much is my AR15 worth?
I am going to sell my AR15 and I just want to see what its worth. Can anyone give me some idea?
I built it for long range shooting so it has a 1:7 twist barrel and its built around the 68 grain round, although I think 75 grain is another good one for this barrel. The barrel is free floating stainless steel bull barrel. Receiver is made by Lauer.
Our land lease for our hunting club ran out shortly after I built this gun and I never settled into another club. Eventually I stopped hunting altogether so I dont shoot anymore so its been sitting around for about 3 or 4 years now.
I have moved on to other hobbies so I am ready to sell.

Going to need alot more information before a price can be determined.
Who made the barrel?
How long is the barrel?
What type of upper (A2, A3, ETC...)
What kind of stock?
What kind of trigger (Single stage, 2 stage)
What kind of bolt was used?

You say that you built it. What type of training do you have on AR builds?
All of these will factor in the value of the gun.0 -
I will dig up my invoices this evening so I dont mis-quote any parts and post more details this evening.
No training, but just to clarify I didnt manufacture anything for this rifle. Possibly "build" is not the right term. What I did do for my build was to buy a book, researched what I needed, bought parts designed for my purposes and in the end I did assemble it from manufactured parts.

You done screwed the pooch. 6 months ago you would have folks fighting over it. Ran into a guy last January, who had just sold a kitchen table home build for $1800. He was one happy fella. Things have changed completely now. All kinds of new factory AR's including Colt's, are readily available for well under $1000.
A kitchen table home build, IMHO, would probably would sell in the $500-$700 range nowadays. The name on the lower would have a great baring on value.0 -

Its funny how fast things have changed - if I recall correctly the upper assembly cost about that much.

I have the following information about the rifle...
The upper was a 20" Varmint Upper from M&A Parts. I found the 24" version on their website but my receipt says it was the 20". It has the picatinny rail on top - its been a while so I'm not remembering all the technical names. I purchased it as the entire upper assembly with the bolt.

I didnt find any other receipts so I cant give specifics about them, but am willing to take pictures if it helps. The stock is nothing fancy, at the time there was questions about having a folding stock in CA so I just got the basic style.
Anyhow, hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more comments.

You say you got the basic stock due to CA....Is this a totally CA compliant AR? If so you most likely won't have as many interested buyers for the whole gun outside CA except for maybe NY and CT buyers since most other States don't want to use bullet button AR's. As others have stated you're about 4 months late to the market. August is also typically a poor month to sell guns too. Being it's a gun built from parts at home you might start it at $700 and see if you get any interest. If you have them I'd include some targets that you have shot with the gun showing its accuracy. 0 -
Good point about having a target. I could take it to the range one last time.
Good to know about the whole bullet button thing. This one was actually before that was out so you have to breach load it. I haven't shot it in that long, otherwise I would have added one.

Thanks for the info folks. I think I got what I needed. I realize it might not sell and if so I'll just hang onto it. If it does sell then great, I can apply that to other hobbies.
As far as the "What is it?" question goes I really dont have any additional info. Its a home built and I've stated all I know about it. There are not additional features or options. I just wanted an AR and soon after I built it I stopped shooting so its been sitting for years. If I could post pics I would but as far as I can see there is no way for me to do that here.
