Packing list location

Where is the best location to put your paperwork- inside the box attached to the gun, or on the outside of the box in an envelope?

Going to send a receiver out for heat treat, and wondering where's the best place to attach everything.

  If You place it in an envelope ( on the out-side ) of the package ? Always a chance it will be damaged and or lost ??? We always place ALL paper-work inside the box !!!
