Best place to buy Single Six 22 LR cylindar
I have a Single Six convertible that I got a real good deal on as the 22 LR cylinder was missing. So my questions are two fold. First, where is the best place to find just the 22 LR cylinder?? Second, I think they are supposed to be fitted so the cylinder/barrel line up right?? Couldn't you just take a cleaning rod, insert down the barrel and feel if every chamber aligns correctly?? I mean feel around for any lipping/non-alignment in each cylinder and do so several times with each chamber. If it aligns wouldn't it be good to go??
Kinda sounds like I'm doing a Bubba here but It is very logical to me. So where am I wrong??
Any thoughts or tips??

Several years ago I bought a single six that had 2 LR cylinders rather than one of each. I posted on here about it and another member contacted me who had a single six with 2 magnum cylinders. We ended up swapping cylinders and they fit perfectly in both guns without any fitting. 0 -
do some google there was a fellow that has making drop in cylinders with 8 shots 0 -
I think you are correct. The only issue would be if there was a dimension change at some point in time. I tried a .44 magnum Super Blackhawk cylinder in my Vaquero 44-40 and it fit and operated perfectly. 0 -

Maybe they will sell you one.

Send the gun to Ruger and have them fit the cylinder.
An 8 shot cylinder could not possibly work as a "drop in." The gun is timed for 6 shots.0 -
Second Bill on this, send it to Ruger and have it done right. 0 -
In my experience, Ruger cylinders are not always drop-ins. But the problem is not alignment (timing) but cylinder length, that is, the length of the fixed bushing--sometimes it will be too short (excessive end-play) and sometimes too long (it won't go in the frame) and occasionally it will fit like it should. It's a crap shoot! 0 -
Bill and Dale, Ruger does make an 8 shot conversion cylinder for the new model single six. another forum i'm on, a member got one and said it was a drop in too.
