    The percussion cap system didn't come into general usage until the mid 1820's. It lasted for a comparatively short time, until the 1860's.

    What you have is a "bag handled", "box lock" pistol. Without markings, difficult to say who made it? Where it was made? Exact time frame? etc.

    It could of originated most anywhere? As small scale manufacturers in a number of different countries, made similar guns. Although most that I have run across have been single barreled.

    The only thing I can speculate on is that it might be Spanish made. In the north western Basque areas, gunmaking was a major manufacturing business. They had no legal proofing or marking requirements, in contrast to other European countries. I have seen a number of other double barreled pistols that have originated in the Basque regions.

    Looks like a KIT from the 1970's I would remove one of the screws and see if Us Tread Or metric.
