Should I trust my gut?

All,

I recently participated in an auction for a firearm that was being sold by a New, verified seller.

However as the auction progressed, there were issues/items that crept up that gave me great cause for concern. In the end, I won the auction, but I would like to know if it is ok to post specifics regarding the incident here to get feedback from the members. (i will not provide any specific detail, just relevant info).

Please let me know. I have already submitted a support request, but I also have questions about the Buyer Protection policy.

Anyway, please let me know if it is ok to ask the questions here or if I need to keep it to the GB proper site.

    Usually any mention of a GunBroker auction in a post will get it locked. If the seller was verified, that would ease my mind somewhat.

    OK, I guess I will drop the topic. It's unfortunate. I could really use some feedback and the Support Service is backed up.


    Anyway, my problem, not yours. I was hoping to get some guidance on how to handle the situation. The seller has contacted me and I am tempted to contact them back and lay it all on the table, but ... well, anyway ... I'm very uncomfortable with the situation.

    Please understand, no offense is meant in this. When I was still doing the auctions, I got stuck with folks, who got buyers remorse. They backed out of the deals, and gave me a really hard time.

    You should stop and think things through before bidding. If you do win something man up and go through with the deal. You should have discussed the fine print with the seller before the auction closed.

    It is really hard not to take offense at a statement like that.

    This is not an issue of buyer remorse. this is an issue of self preservation. I am 'not allowed' to discuss the details here, so let's leave it as this:

    I have NEVER not gone through with a transaction -- even if I felt I should have stepped back -- it was my problem, not the seller's. I MANNED UP. That's how I was raised. You are worth your word or you are worth nothing.

    What I was asking for was the opportunity to DESCRIBE the situation and get feedback from others on what the best course of action would be.

    This isn't a case of buyer's remorse. This is a case of POTENTIAL FRAUD. Period. But since I'm not allowed to describe the situation -- makes no sense to me, but whatever -- we'll see what GB comes back to me with and then I will make an educated decision -- I'm not going to give a criminal money just because he gamed the system.

    I appreciate your position -- believe me -- I understand the frustration of people backing out of a deal -- but that is NOT the situation. I really wish I could describe it, but as you read, I was adviced not to. contactme directly if you're willing to, I would gladly describe the situation and ask your guidance.

    Thats the only reason I posted here in teh first place.

    just to clarify -- there are ways to cheat buyers -- and those methods do not become apparent until well after the auction has closed. Believe me, I did my research for one simple reason: Red Flags kept going Up, and I simply will not risk losing thousands of dollars just because I said I would when I thought the deal was legit.

    And to be perfectly honest, when I reviewed the GB 'Buyer Protection' policy I was extremely disenheartened.

    I have been the victim of auction fraud.

    Buy you know what? The Auction site covered my ENTIRE cost so all I lost was time and aggravation - but not a single dollar.

    that is not what I read when I review GB's policy: From what I read, I'd be lucky to get 1/8th of the money I put out if it does indeed turn out to be fraudulent ...

    THAT is not BUYER PROTECTION by any stretch and it is something I will keep in mind should I choose to do business through GB in the future.

    Go over to the General Discussion Forum http://forums.GunBroker.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=4 and tell us your concerns in general terms without disclosing the specific auction or seller.

    We do allow auction discussions as long as they don't violate the posting guidelines. I'll monitor it for compliance but you should be able to relay your concerns.
