Colt Diamondback Trigger

I have a Colt Diamondback, 38 special, 4" barrel, made in 1969. My issue is that the radius or "curl" of the trigger is too small and my trigger finger does not fit comfortably, although my fingers are not oversize at all. I have compared it to others online and it seems that they have a larger radius. I believe that sometime in the past, a previous owner had the trigger bent, possibly to fit a smaller trigger finger.

I contacted Colt Firearms about this and they do not carry triggers for the gun. They are available at Numerich Gun Parts for a reasonable price.

My question is: can the existing trigger radius be increased somehow without compromising the smoothness of the action, or should I just buy another trigger and have it installed?

A second question is: did any of the Colt Diamondbacks have wider "target" triggers like the Pythons? I have not been able to find one or see one online. If there is a source for the target triggers, I would have one of these installed instead of the standard type.

  A trigger shoe would make it wider, and possibly change the radius, and no permanent change to the gun.

  Colt doesn't carry parts for any obsolete guns; they made a "business" decision about 40 years ago to get rid of all their old parts. Numrich (Gunpartscorp) bought most/all of them, & you were fortunate that they have what you need; that's likely the only source.
  
  The DB model was one of Colt's "mass produced" lines; i.e., the guns were designed so that no expensive hand fitting of parts was required. I don't recall seeing any DB's with optional parts that were factory fitted when new. Forged & surface hardened, triggers are not designed to be bent. I would guess that a previous owner looked at the GPC catalog & ordered a different "frame size" trigger & installed it; sometimes that works, sometimes not....
  
  Your .38 DB would sell in the $800 range if in 99+% condition. So, if possible, I'd try to restore it to original condition while the parts are still available.
