    No. It would have to be drilled and tapped.

    So looking at one for sale on the auction side I see 2 screws on the left side of the receiver. One looks like the lever pivot, not sure what the one above it does. I think you could make a new longer screw that shoulders in the same place on the receiver. Have about 1/4" more of shank then a larger slotted head. Take piece of brass or stainless steel flat strap and fold it around a ring. Drill the shank hole in the tabs and space it off the action with a washer. I'd thread lock the screw in place to keep it form working loose. No new holes in your gun. Might cause a wear ring in the finish - depends on the spacing and if its tight or allowed to rotate.

    no pictures to look at yours but a lot of the earlier guns were drilled and tapped for receiver sights so if you have one that was you could use one of those holes to mount the ring.

    after looking at the kits and pictures of actual SRC's i agree, it would have to be drilled and tapped. well thats just not going to happen to this fine old rifle. maybe one day i'll find a real one i'd be willing to buy. thanks all.
