S&W model 65-2
I'm looking at a really nice .357 and wonder about it's age. I realize that the model 65 is the stainless version of the model 13 and with no "N" prefix to the s/n (776XX) it must be pre-1969. Any thoughts guys?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Jeff- coffee not working, and I am confused. What model is the gun- 13 or 65?
65-2 production started in 1977 and continued until the 65-3 was introduced in 1982.0 -

According to SCSW. Production of the Model 65, started in 1976. All had alpha numeric prefixes. From "1D" to "21D". If the serial number you have given, has a "1D" prefix, it dates to 1980.0 -
Are you looking at the bottom of the grip frame?

Per SCSW, 1980.
Real strange? Model 65's with "2D" to "6D", serial number prefixes, were made between 1977 & 1979.0 -
Thanks again everyone for the info. 0 -
Glad some people still have eyes good enough to see those grinding marks that they call sights...[:D] 0
