Good pic's and a hand lens will help of your stamps. Fascinating research is possible due re works over the years.

bnz & 43: not proofs, per se - this is factory code & year of production for the occupied Steyr Werke (became Steyr-Daimler-Puch).
Be advised that if a rune is present, it may in fact NOT sport a firing proof upon the receiver/barrel. Here's a much better site for complete info:

Sure, Frank - but it will cost ya exactly 1 bnz 43 [:D] Seriously, just hammer the lil' tab above that's titled: "Email Poster"
The Polish site linked by Charlie is a very general & rather inaccurate/amateurish (OK, goofy) "resource" for K98k's, as it also features G.33/40, Gew 98, Polish K98 & Wz.29 Mausers amongst others like the Yugo M48 - but they're just thrown-together at random.
Regardless, checkout the 9th image down: http://mauser98k.internetdsl.pl/gbkomen.html
If indeed this bnz 43 is a single rune, you may soon find a very full message inbox.
