Marlin 1881 .45-70 Schematic
Hello!
Does anyone out there have a schematic for the 1873 Marlin .45-70. I am having trouble locating one, and I would feel better having a schematic then tearing down this rifle without one.
Thank you!

Are you sure about that model year? I've never heard of a Marlin .45-70 before the Model 1881. I've also never heard of a Model 1873 Marlin. 0 -

The original Marlin rifles, made in 45-70. Were the 1881 & the 1895.
Winchester made their Model 1876, in 45-60 & 45-75.0 -
The NRA Firearms Assembly - Rifles and Shotguns says: "In 1881 J. M. Marlinintroduced a center-fire lever-action repeating rifle featuring side loading and top ejection. This was the first production rifle of his own design and incorporated the tubular magazine concept with an octagon barrel fitted to a large-frame receiver. These rifles were originally chambered in both .45-70 and .40-60."
They don't make any mention of Model of 1873.0 -
There's a Australian dude on youtube who does a nice two parter how to disassemble the 1895. 0 -
The only "Model 1873" ever chambered for the 45-70 was the U.S. Springfield Model 1873 (a.k.a. "Trapdoor). 0 -
Hi. Can you post a picture? Thanks. 0 -
Sorry gentlemen, I was mistaken. It is an original 1881 rifle. I'll post some pics as soon as I get the chance.

I corrected your title to 1881 - Spider0 -
Feb. 1990 issue of American Rifleman had schematic of the 1881 and my old copy of Gun Digest Exploded Firearms Drawings has it with detailed disassembly instructions. 0 -
Maybe this will help:

Spider 7115,
Thank you very much. I received a schematic from another fellow earlier, but it didn't have the take-down instructions. I appreciate all the help I received. There is a a lot of very knowledgeable people on this website who are not afraid to share that knowledge.
Thank you once more!
