1952 Win '94 what type of wood/finish?
Any idea what type of wood they used in a 1952 Winchester 94? i found some stuff that is supposed to darken the wood and give it that red tint which mine does not have. I'd like to try it on something before I apply it and mess things up. Thanks!

Winchester used American Black Walnut to stock the Model 94 Carbines. 0 -
Thanks! I checked GB and eBay for either a stock or forend/forearm and they are expensive.

Is your wood original with original finish and unsanded? If so, and unless the finish has been damaged, anything you put on it will mess it up, IMHO. If it's damaged and you are trying to restore it that's another story.
That said, if you feel you just have to make it better, you could pull the stock off and try it on a hidden spot under one of the tangs. Same goes for the inside of the forearm but they can be more difficult to remove and reinstall. Careful not to bugger up any screws.0 -
Original finish with no damage. I just really like that darker red finish compared to what it has now. Right that might work but I'm not sure those spots are "finished" at all. Maybe I better spend the money and buy a finished forearm to try it on. 0 -
