1895 Brand

I have an 1895 Winchester SRC that hasa brand on the stock. I know it is a long shot, but would anyone have a suggestion on where to start looking. I don't even know what state it came out of. Thanks

  It's likely going to take a lot of research, as there are very many of them. Used over the years. GOOGLE, "Images", "Cattle brands symbols".

  I tried that, it is huge. Maybe I need to see if I can find out where it was shipped to when new. At least a state. It would cut down the search area.

  I don't know if there's any connection but there is a "4 Corners" Ranch that has a similar logo. However, they're in Sweden so it's probably not them. Still, you could always e-mail them as they have a lot of links to other ranches in the U.S. so maybe someone will recognize it.

  C4 could be a military unit like "C" company 4th brigade/regiment/cavalry Maybe the guy was fond of composition 4.

  I would start with the states of the 4 corners, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
