7x57 mauser express
I recently ran across a Venezuelan mauser that had been rebarreled and stamped on the barrel is 7. 57. Mauser Express. I know this is a 7x57 but what does Mauser express mean especially the express part? Any info is always appreciated.

I suspect its a standard 7x57 Mauser but loaded with a lighter than normal bullet.

The only safe way to know, is to have a knowledgeable gunsmith. Do a chamber cast.
That said. My WAG is that it's just a 7 mm Ackley Improved. Using a different name. GOOGLE, "Ackley Improved Cartridges".
The 7 mm Mauser, is a very old design, dating to the early 1890's. It is one of the cartridges that benefited most, to being rechambered to 7 mm A.I.0 -
Could the "express" stand for the kind of rifle it is? Like a safari type rifle with heavy open sights made for fast aquisition? 0
