The cross scepters under the crown, was the Birmingham proof mark used until 1904. Can't find anything, regarding the marking? Inside the oval. 0 -
Went to another reference I have. It shows that "gauge" of the barrels, is shown inside a diamond shaped stamping. For some reason the stamping shape in your photo, is a oval not diamond shaped?
To make a long story short. The "36" inside the stamped oval. Would be 36 gauge, in the old British and European system. .410 to us nowadays, on this side of the pond.0
