Browning Bar 7mag question

A good friend called and asked me if a BAR was supposed to have a bolt that remained open after the last shot. If so is there a release button on them. I never owned one so I can't help. Can anyone here help out? Thanks.

  I think the answer is yes and yes.

  They all hold open. Newer ones have a lever on the right side of the receiver to release the bolt, older ones you pull back the charging handle and push down on the follower or drop the magazine down.

  I got the answer. I downloaded a manual from Browning-Duh....good for google. Thanks guys He has an older one.
