1911 magazine

I have this 1911 magazine, 45 acp, that will only hold 5 rounds. No markings, no visible sighs of damage, or alterations. Question. Are some magazines made to only hold 5 rounds? Thanks.

    Five rounds was the standard number of shots taken in Bullseye target competition. It is possible that the magazine is blocked internally for that purpose. I do not know if some were made that way. It would be easy to insert a block in a 1911 magazine.

    I had a couple of Kart brand magazines that held six. Good for NRA five shot strings, PPC six shot strings.

    Less likely but possible, when Marlin was selling the Camp Carbine, they had five shot magazines in case you wanted to go hunting.

    Take it apart and see what is up.

    some of the compact 1911 type pistols with very short grips and barrels did not use standard Magazines maybe you have the Wrong magazine type

    This mag fits my standard 1911 just like the regular mags.
