Browning 78 DOM

I have a Browning model 78 serial # 7161W47 and was wondering if anyone can help me with the date it was made. I have looked at the sticky on DOM but still can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

  Well I agree it doesn't fit the code

  So I would use a hand lens and re-check the number. Mis-stamps occur so ask them

  For some reason the date codes, were transposed on a number of Browning's.
  
  Because of this I believe that the "W" is the model identifier.
  # 7161 is the actual serial number. And 74, is the actual DOM.

  I think rufe-snow has it pegged as I seen one I think on the GunBroker and the serial number ended with W37 and the seller said it was made in 1973. Info from all is appreciated.
