Winchester 1894 in 25-35
We have a Winchester 94 rifle in cal 25-35 with good blue and clean stock.About 85%. Is this a rare caliber? Made in 1917. Any ideas on value?

Not everybody's idea of "good blue, clean stock, and 85%" are the same. Good photo's are needed to give an accurate assessment. However, the 25-35 is one of the more rare chamberings.
You might also want to look under this link to make sure your rifle was in fact made in the year you think it was. If your using information from the Madis collection, you could be as much as 5 years or more off.

The 25-35 WCF is neither rare, or uncommon. The numbers I listed in the topic link were just for the first 353999 Model 1894s manufactured (through May 1907). From June 1907 through 1953 (when the 25-35 was discontinued), Winchester manufactured another 118,600 in just the Model 1894/94. The 25-35 was also made in the Models 1885, 55, and 64. For just the Model 1894/94, the total estimated production was 156,000.
I suspect that you do not have the correct year of manufacture. With the serial number, I can provide the exact month & year it was manufactured. Is it a "Rifle", or a "Carbine"?0 -

In the years 1895 (August) to mid-year 1907 (May), there were relatively few Carbines made in 25-35 WCF, as the overwhelming majority of Model 1894s manufactured were rifles.
From Mid-year 1907 to the end of the year 1927, the ratio is (204) rifles versus (189) Carbines.
From 1928 to 1953, it is (378) Carbines versus just (26) Rifles.
In summary, from August 1895 through December 1927, Rifles outnumbered Carbines by a 57:43 ratio. Thereafter, the ratio changed drastically.0
