Remington 11 ?
I have one that i got for a great deal and i was wondering if it is safe to shoot now with modern ammo. I do have some paper shells but i would rather save them.
The serial # is 9579X from my research it was made in 1911.
The barrel looks great and no buldges.
Also about how much do they go for? Its not for sale but i would like to put it down for insurance purposes.

If its in good shape it should be fine. I don't think I would feed it steel shot or short mag loads. Make sure your recoil rings are set for your intended load. Keep it clean and lubed.

Condition is everything. Do an advanced search on completed auction to see what ones in the same condition as yours sold for.

Hello "dav1965" - first if you can - if not get a competent "smith" to take it completely apart - clean it -- you may be amazed what comes out of it. Lubricate it and put it back together - only the most sparce lubrication where the friction rings move.
If the "smith" gives the OK -- shoot the stew out of it -- as "charlie" said -- NO steel - NO magnum loads. Stick with lighter loads. Make sure the friction rings are in the correct orientation or you will get a split forearm sooner or later. BTDT-GTTS.
At one time I went east to Tallahassee - north to Valdosta - east to Jacksonville and south to Ocala. I have seen them from $300 to $475 depending on condition and 11Bs for 30-60% more. But as suggested search the completed auction for current information.

An absolute 'Must Check' is the bolt buffer at the rear of the receiver.. This is a fiber disc that cushions the recoil.. If this is missing, or crumbling, you risk cracking the receiver..

Friction ring orientation is important...they are designed to accommodate light loads one way and field loads the other...Just my 2C...do not lubricate the rings or the tube...lubrication defeats the friction ring performance...
