leaver safety button

What year did marlin start to use the leaver button on there model 336. I guess it is made to make sure that the leaver and the action in 100% closed. My 1953 has it on the lower tang. Any ideas as to when Marlin started to use it? Thank Lew

  Looks like 1951.
