Marlin 39A Expert
My Marlin Orginal Golden-39A Micro-Groove Barrel, Post Safty, Break Down has a Small Stamped "JM" on the barrel Left side. The SN 95 301
3XX and if I was advised correctly would make it's DOB 2005.
Other 39A offered for sale on GB have a "JM" stamp about 1/4 inch tall letters on the barrel, mine are very small almost need a glass
the read them.Letter "M" is very clear but the "J" is not that clear.
Can anyone tell if this year is in fact a "JM" mfg rifle?
My son-in -Law wants to purchase this safe queen and I want to make
sure he knows what he is buying.

With out seeing the auction it is hard to tell what is going on. The JM stamp has been seen in many different ways with larger and smaller letters as well as some parts of each letter missing. Since these were stamped on the stamps wore and thus were not always perfect. The easiest way to tell is by the serial number. The JM was gone around late 2008. 0 -

According to the new(est) issue of Guns and Ammo (April 2015) Remington has just now REPLACED the tooling they are using for the "Marlin" 1894, and the "quality" Remington offers should be hitting store shelves this year.
Glad I got my JM stamped .44mag when I did.
Wish I had gone ahead and got the .357mag at the same time.0
