    With out seeing the auction it is hard to tell what is going on. The JM stamp has been seen in many different ways with larger and smaller letters as well as some parts of each letter missing. Since these were stamped on the stamps wore and thus were not always perfect. The easiest way to tell is by the serial number. The JM was gone around late 2008.

    never seen JM 1/4 tall they are small 1/8 nice clean late model 500.00 they are not makeing them anymore remington has not fixed the tooling it got in the buyout /move

    2005 is right [;)] JM is right, Remington took over some time in 2008.

    According to the new(est) issue of Guns and Ammo (April 2015) Remington has just now REPLACED the tooling they are using for the "Marlin" 1894, and the "quality" Remington offers should be hitting store shelves this year.
    Glad I got my JM stamped .44mag when I did.
    Wish I had gone ahead and got the .357mag at the same time.
