Thompson Center & Smith & Wesson?

Bought an Icon "Classic" on the auction side a short time ago and on the box it says "A Smith & Wesson Company". When did that happen?

  That happened about 5-6 years ago, if I remember correctly. You can tell, because T/C's customer service right now is in about the same toilet as S&W's. I needed a part for my Triumph muzzle loader...a front sight, as it got dropped on a rock. Still have not got it yet, and I called them in December of last year. They sent me a front sight screw, and said the sight was out of stock, but it was made by Williams.
  
  I was hoping that T/C's ways would transfer over to S&W, not the other way around.

  Looks like some of the bean counter's are still there, that signed the place over to the Clinton Administration. Sad, as T/C was at one time one top shelf manufacturer of anything here in the USA.

  I thought it was only 2 years ago they got bought out.

  T/C got bought by that other brand about the same time they took over Walther; their service has been unreliable at best since 2007.

  As soon as I saw the over travel screw on the Encore and G2 Contnder go away I thought things wouldn't go well - who needs an over travel screw on a precision pistol, right? [;)]

  S&W closed the T/C New Hampshire plant to "consolidate" operations. My guess is that a lot of experienced people were left out in the cold.
