MOSSBERG .22

I am in search of information regarding some old mossberg .22s. I have shot both the model us44 and the model 46a and really liked both of them. In fact, I shot my best scores with the model 46a:) However, I am interested in a single shot for the class I shot and I see that mossberg made a model 35 target grade bolt action single shot from 1935-1937. Then a model 35a which had different sights from 1937-1938 and then a 35b from 1938-1940. Can anyone give me more information about any of the model 35s? Would one option be a better choice than another and why? I would hate to buy one and find out that it doesn't shot as well and accurate as the later models:( Thx-Daisy

    I have a chance to get mossberg .22 model #640kd chuckster. can anyone give me any info on how old? and approximate value.

    If your interested in a accurate .22, get a modern one. A 70+ year old Mossberg with a unknown round count, that you don't know if it has had the proper care? Is questionable at best. Likely at this late date one in good shape would have more value as a collectors item, then as a shooter.

    Finding a 35 might be slightly trickey. Basically they were all similar other than the sights used and possbily stocks.

    Edit: I have a few 60 year + mossberg that run just fine. One my grandfather used as a milk house gun....

    Nothing to scoff at because of a little use.

    with all due respect to RUFE; i own a 35 and several other mossys. they are all unbelievably accurate and one can only wonder how they were priced so low. their quality is beyond anything you can purchase today and they seem to last forever. i would stack up any PRE-68 Mossy against any modern 22 up to $500!!

    A+++++ an old mossy with the proper diet 9 out of 10 will out shoot the modern rifles. this includes the fancy 10/22"s. yep... a rifle is no better than the barrel on it. truth sucks sometimes. quote:Originally posted by lilmor50

    I have a 140K with the original 3/4" scope and am blown away with how accurate it is! Somehow my great uncle came up with a brand new still in the original package clip. I've made shots on squirrel that my friends couldn't believe

    THX-for the info guys:)and yes I do have a modern .22-a 10/22 with LOTS of after market parts; however it is not legal for the class that I am currently shooting and the "old" mossbergs out shoot it all day long. In fact, I have lots of "old" guns in my safe that will out shoot the new stuff-lol. For example, my "old" python will out shoot any other revolver I have ever shoot! Nothing wrong with old guns as far as I am concerned-just need to find the right one-thx and for the advice:)
