Unquality Carbine slide?

I recently disassembled my Saginaw m1 Carbine in order to start restoring all parts to original SG parts. The slide I had on it was a type II marked DAQ in the well of the slide. However, on the bottom outside of the well was a U stamped int it. Looking at Larsons book, I can't find a slide with a U on the bottom. Could this be an Un-Quality slide?

  I take it you are asking about the bolt, right [?][?]
  The "U" marking would be a UNDERWOOD [;)]
  The "U" stamp should be under the left lug.

  Not the bolt. I was referring to the slide. SOmeone told me it might be an inspection stamp.

  Your slide may be correct & original. Quality Hardware used parts from other manufacturers, & many were also marked DA-Q or UN-Q.
