Oh i have a immune disease. Addisons and the doctors were scared to put me to sleep real deep. I woke up and i could hear them use a sawzall on my knee then i heard a drill going.

Then i heard him ask for something and then he beat me with a hammer. My whole body would shake. The man had some hammering skills.

I could not feel any pain. They gave me a spinal block so i had no pain and i could not see anything they had a blind up so it stopped me from seeing.[:(]

I still have swelling. However i have not rested my knees yet.

January i had rehab and in Febuary i started building my wood shop and have not stopped yet.

    Prayers for you and yours.

Like i said before DO THE REHAB. THATS REALLY REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT.

I remember you having them done. I asked the surgeon if we could do one and then the other in 3-4 weeks. My over all health picture bothered him and he the declined doing it that way. Told me that the best probability for the best outcome was to space them out for 6 months. We hire them for their experience and expertise so I listened and accepted that.

I bought a polar machine before surgery, then they sent one home with me, so I have 2. In fact I have them both on the knee right now. I've already had 3 rehab sessions here at home and will transition to rehab in the clinic in a couple of weeks. I'm actually doing pretty good, at least that's what the therapist tells me. I look forward it it all being over and healed up, but I have to say the process sucks.

    Thanks for sharing you information.

One of the things I bought before surgery was a power reclining lift chair. Now that was a good decision, this thing is a real blessing.

Scout, I had 5 surgeries on one knee, got a prototype partial that was only suppose to last 10yrs with normal use, it'll be 30 yrs come Jan.
Read your post about the swelling, and remembered a trick the rehab people taught me. The swelling puts a damper on the healing/rehab.
Go cold, hot, cold, hot, etc with ice packs and hot damp towels. That expands and contracts the blood vessels and draws the fluid off. That was much better than a #12 spinal tap needle under the kneecap.[:0]
Once the incisions were healed up, I used the Jacuzzi for the heat, then over into the winter time swimming pool that had a 8" divider between them. Good luck with the healing!

    Don't do it!

I lived to hunt, fish and hike. But I injured a knee.
I had it replaced and something went wrong (pinched nerve?). The doc said I was the only patient he ever had that reacted during the operation.

Therapy nearly killed me. Those sadistic &%$&s would not listen to me.
It was 2 years before I could walk any further than the greeter at Walmart. Then it was hobble back to the car.

I thought I knew pain. I've had terrible headaches my entire life and was shot through the stomach when I was in the military. But this knee nearly drove me over the edge.
Not surprisingly, I developed a dependency for pain pills, but at least I could function. Take a pill-go turkey hunting. Take a pill_walk home, etc., etc...
Then the ^%#$ government and the &%$# doctor took my pain pills away. I'm old and retired! Take the pain pills away from those people that are taking them recreationally while drawing unemployment!

I don't sleep much, able to do very little, physically, and growl at everyone.

The doc promised that my other knee would improve after he replaced the bad knee but it has only gotten worse and now it needs to be replaced.

    NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
Whether I go up or down that long staircase after I die, I'm going to be dragging that knee.

If I sound bitter its only because I am.

    Don't do it.
If you do it, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. [:)]
