I recently purchased a Winchester 94AE. It has the curved lever and stock, serial number 65270XX. It is not marked legacy but looks to me like one. Can anyone tell me the difference between the ordinary 94 and a legacy? Thanks, John.

    dodge69,

That letter "G" could be a NUMBER "6". Is your rifle an angle-eject version? Are there any cross-bolt, or tang, safeties on it? I believe that the "Legacys" are late-model rifles, and the serial number shold be in the 6-million-plus range.

    dodge69,

If you cannot get an answer from Winchester, or you cannot provide us with photographs of your rifle, then you will need to give us some more information. I asked you for a couple of items that will help us to narrow down when it was manufactured, plus any other, pertinent information that may give you insight into your rifle. You did not answer these questions:

quote:Are there any cross-bolt, or tang, safeties on it?

Very nice rifle here. Serial number is close to yours.
Easier to read on the box.
It sucks when the eyes get old, believe me I know.

The serial number on that one begins with a "6", not a "G". The complete serial number is 6564416

Isn't that the exact same rifle dodge69 asked about??? It has to be more than coincidence.

Your dealer needs new glasses, and you need to make absolute sure that he corrects the recorded sales information! The Model 94 Legacy serial numbers all start with a "6" versus a "G".

I have a model 94 legacy 38 55 with a serial number of G564416 and have no idea what year the serial number represents. Does anybody have the legacy production serial number/ production date information.

The serial number is 6564416, and it was manufactured in the latter half of the year 2005.

Yep, the same gun. I wonder if the dealer intentionally told him it was a "G" so he wouldn't see how much he paid for it on GunBroker [;)]
