DOM on Remingtons 870 & 1100
I have a 870 Wingmaster 12 ga #814442V
1100 Rem 3" Mag #N544682 M
Played around with sticky reference long enough,
Help would be appreciated.
Try to find out if these are safe to fire steel shot.
thanks in advance

Most Remington barrels have a alpha code, stamped on them. It should be just forward of the receiver. On the left side. Either provide us with the code. Or call Remington customer service on Monday, with the serial number. Be advised though as Remington shotgun barrels are easily exchanged. The S.N. on the receiver, might not correspond with the age of the barrels. 0 -
The 870 Left Barrel Marks AKH-- Right side Triangle M REPC
The 1100 Left Barrel Marks AR8--- Right side Triangle G REP N
Thanks, did not know the Barrel was the main factor in aging.0 -

Remington reused their letter codes over the years. The 1100 I believe is a "B", rather than a 8. It could date to either 1981 or 2007?
Same for the 870. "H" could be either 1961 or 1987?0
