Finally got me a "newer" computer.

Another Dell desktop. I buy only Dell brand. This one, the one I use, is over 8yo. Still works great; but, it's just outdated. Wanted a newer one with more up-to-date features (USB 3.0, Sata 6Gbs mobo connection for my ssd and a faster Intel processor).

I don't buy new computers. Like buying a new car and watching the immediate depreciation. I wait until I narrow down the model I want and keep searching for a refurbished or "like new" one.

Made the seller an offer that was accepted with "free" shipping. My kind of deal! I'm good to go for another few years.

    Yup. I just bought a factory refurbished Dell business-level desktop from Woot! for under $400. Screamer. Sixteen giggles of memory, Win 10 Pro, and an SSD.

    It replaces an 8-yo Gateway that was bogged down by Win 10 updates. Still ran fine, but every update choked and then it would take it an hour to try again, fail again, then revert to pre-update. Until it tried the same update again a few days later. Grrr! I have since wiped that drive and installed Linux Mint. It is now my emergency backup desktop.

    I do not have USB or Satellite connectivity to the Internet. (Satellite is doable, but unacceptable due to Dish Networks high demand for $$.) I purchased a Samsung Digital Verizon dedicated 4G connectivity Tablet, along with my phone.

    It has been very good. It has been very nice to answer the phone, through my tablet. [:D] (Several times today.)

    I can understand a phone data connection for a travel computer. (Wife can make hotel reservations while we drive, for example.) But I wouldn't want to pay those rates unless there was no other option. I have internet via cable. Being still a copper wire system in my neighborhood, it is nowhere near as fast as fiber, but it's reliable and inexpensive.

    My phone data connection, is less than half the price Dish Network would have charged me. I pay $81/mo. For my phone and Tablet. (Unlimited Gigs.) My Tablet is synced with my phone. It will function as a big a$$ phone, which is pretty cool. I refuse to pay Dish Network one more dime. My TV is down to their minimum package. Still $61/mo.


    Cable (USB) Is not an option where I live.
