I Joined In 1983 And I Got Out in 1992

You would be surprised about the number of parents that hated someone in the military dating their daughter.

I lived with 1 lady and her parents went ballistic when they found out she was seeing me. She was going to college and getting great grades and her parents told her either drop me or move home.

We dated still but it was not the same.

Then i moved in with a lady and her dad was a REAL HELL ANGEL. I was at her house and her dad walked in with his key. I had never seen him before. Im in my underweareating cereal and he walks in with saddlebags.

He opens his saddle bag and pulls out a uzi and 2 bricks of cocaine. I asked him whats in the other saddlebag. He pulls out another 2 keys and another UZI.

I broke up with her but she was sweet and beautiful. I was scared of going to Levinworth.

I ended up dating 3 girls/ladies that their parents was dead set against dating anyone in the military.

I always say yes mamm, no mamm, or mamm. They just hated their girl moving away. I still say yess or no mamm.

    I joined right after RVN was over, right after Carter won. Not a good time at all.

    That is a little of what I ran into when starting to date my wife.

    Her father was Army Air Corp. from WWII. He did not like Navy because he
    complained they had the best chow when he was eating C-rations all the
    time. I had just gotten off of activity duty and was still in the Navy Reserve.

    Stike One.

    Then at the time I was doing a lot of scuba diving so I bought a van and built a bed over the rear wheels and had put curtains in all the windows and behind drivers seat. The bed was open from the back so I could store my scuba gear under the bed. With the bed I could go to dive sites and sleep over night and change into swim gear before diving and dry clothes after diving.

    Try going to meet the future inlaws for the first time with that set up. Especially when their duaghter was going to all girl Catholic college.

    Strike two.

    Luckily I must have made a good impression because I did not get to Strike Three, married their daughter and it will be forty years in another year.
