Steve, Donna and I received your card. Thank you so much, for the kind words and thoughts. It really meant a lot to Donna, as well as I. My Father in law was not much of a sentimental type person. He never said I love you, or praised anyone of his children. He was a dedicated farmer, Marine and single father, raising nine children, as he lost his wife at a very young age. My wife was nine when her mother passed. Anyway, on his last day, he laid in a coma, which he had been in for three days. Each child went in, one at a time, to say their goodbyes. He never moved. My wife, being the youngest, went in last. She leaned over and said, Dad, it's Donna. Her father opened his eyes, smiled and said, I know who you are. Your my little girl, and I love you. He passed away about 15 minutes later. It was the only time in 54 years, he ever told any of the kids, that he loved them. I am so glad he is finally able to rest. He did his job and raised nine great children. Oakie.

    I am just this week - Monday and Tuesday starting to get caught up in my correspondence and household chores and bills and appointment rescheduling...

    Spending most of last month in the hospital he's left me in a bit of a deficit regarding my responsibilities.

    I cannot thank you enough for the physical cards and letters - for the emails - for the voicemails...

    The fact that my absence and silence caused you to express concern over my status and well being in multiple formats over the course of several weeks leaves me humbled in your presence and indebted to your kind hearted ness.

    I hope that you have received my replies to your email missives and that you manage to read this thread.

    You have treated me like immediate family or like the closest of friends and I am in your debt - I have not the words to describe how I feel.

    If I can ever do you a solid and pay forward your kindness please let me know (research - resources - etc...)
