Still don't think I am worthy or deserving of what is to me an amazing benevolent and caring charitable gift.
I will follow the example and do my best to pay it forward to others truly in need since I can never repay this debt or express how I feel...

Now I have a reason to hold onto the crimson trace grips and the .22 rimfire Kimber conversion kit and the custom display stand...
I had packed up all of the 1911 accessories for storage - or for possible use with my father's WWII 1911.
I have been unpacking the stuff today and as difficult as it was to place in storage there are strong emotions and tears going through this stuff today.
Not only based on the wonderful and mind altering gift that you have bestowed on me - but I find so many strong emotional connections to and memories of this stuff.
I spent the better part of the last 12 years of the gunshop days watching out for and stashing away almost any random item connected to the 1911 I came across doing gun shows and estate sales and GunBroker auctions (as a seller and buyer)
Many of these items evoke strong memories of the shop owner Walt - his mentoring me and the shop lifestyle - collecting - buying - selling - teaching - learning - watching cancer kill him...
Honestly it's like a dysfunctional or emotionally disturbed hoarder assembled this stuff - but it is all special to me.
The decision to build the 1911 Essex custom match style 1911 target pistol remains as one of the top ten most important accomplishments I hold onto. Learning about the gun and being taught tinkering and parts swapping - going through catalogs and reference books and magazines and distributor mailers...
The research and learning and skill building and relationship / bond development that occurred is a big part of who I am - what kind of man I became.
So a big pile of magazines and ammo and parts and components and ephemera and correspondence might not seem valuable or important to many - it means a lot to me.
I hope that this communicates to you how much this means to me and how strongly I feel about it - and about you / all 10 of you.
If I won the lottery and money was no object I could buy an amazing 1911 from Kimber or Wilson or Caspian - but I could never replace this gun.

Yes...
You see it was not enough to to save and return the pistol to me so I can retain it and pass it on to family...
They also decided to send the money raised in the GB auction to me so I can pay some medical bills...
And it did pretty good at auction - Kasey listed / handled it for me.
I still have trouble understanding that I have a group of friends and family and peers here that hold me in such esteem or wanted to help me out this much...
And I can never repay the debt or satisfy the obligation.

Please let me state again that I am dumbfounded and astounded by the generosity shown by the ten of you...
I mean buying back my gun at auction and returning it to me and donating the proceeds to help with my cancer related medical bills is far more than I deserve - I have difficulty understanding why.
Beyond that - it speaks that I am your friend and peer and comrade - that people care and that has hit me hard the last few days.
Being sick and crippled and disfigured and unable to work has been mentally taxing - body dismorphia and being unable to pull my own weight has been hard to deal with
But to know that there are those here who value my presence here and consider my not only worthy of friendship or respect - but that you took hard earned precious resources away from yourselves to help me is heartfelt and wonderful
I just want to say it again.
I hope that each of you has seen this and heard me.

Mike. Don't beat yourself up about this. There are many of us who care. You are most deserving of this Brother. I'm sure I speak for most, if not all of us. It was our Honor and Privelege to able to do this Sir.
I hope I get the opportunity to meet you, shake your hand, and give you a hug. You are a Very Good Man. You have made me become a better Man, through your posts. I believe others have stated the same, and feel the same.
