RIP My Brother -

Just got a call from my closest friend, Sgt. Rich Roller, 2nd Batt. 75th Ranger Regiment. One of our closest friends, Sgt. Bill (Billy) Watson, also 2nd Batt. 75th Ranger Regiment, passed away this morning, 3 weeks after being diagnosed with Brain Cancer.


RIP Ranger.


I hate losing close friends. It's been a pattern lately. I don't make/retain friends easily. The good ones will never be replaced.

Shout out, to my Brother Billy. Much RESPECT, Brother.

    Our kids grew up together. Lots of Backcountry adventures involved. Night hiking by headlamp, on snowshoes, climbing steep trails in. First ones in, first ones out. Many, many times.

    My Bro, Rich and I laughed about a lot of the good times we had together.

    He is humping a light ruck over a downhill grade with rangers from many eras and conflicts - a squad of heros advancing on a heavenly objective - nothing but friendlies in sight - forever drawing the good mres and bottomless canteens of good cool beer...

    If it's the brain cancer that finishes me off I can only hope for a similar honor guard to walk both onto the ferry and up to the gates...

    Brain cancer is a stone cold bitch - don't think I am winning this round.

    Sorry for your loss Ken. One thing about getting older more and more of your friends die.

    I lost a great friend and my best man last week.

    Cancer is a bitch.


    What Company were they in and when? I was Aco 2nd Plt(Blacksheep) 2/75 Feb 1982-Aug 1990

    Sorry to hear for your loss, my prayers are sent to him, you and his family.

    And yes when we get older, it does seem that the Loss of people let me know becomes a common occurrence.

    I don't know how your beliefs are, but if they're like mine, just remember that he didn't die. He had just evolved into a better life. And that you should be happy for him for. Also remember that you will rejoin him when it's your time to go. Just consider this as him going on a vacation and you won't see him until you join him on vacation. So you haven't lost him, you just won't see him for a little while...
