This is being a nightmare

Bought a "newer" computer desktop and attempting to transfer all that I can from my old computer. Both OS are Windows 7 Pro. One problem after another. Some successes and several setbacks. This will probably take me a few days to complete.

  Why don't you just download everything onto a flash drive or a memory card and save the space on your new computer.
  
  I just purchased a new lap top and downloaded everything off of my old computer on to a 64 GB memory card and just keep it installed in my new computer without taking up any space. They make memory cards with enough memory to download the library of Congress these days.
  
  And it shouldn't take over 5 minutes to do.

  Use "the cloud". Upload everything to one of the "drop box" like cloud services then download onto the new machine.

  FCD has it right. I buy a new computer almost every year for business and have to go through the drill FCD described.
